WELL BE BACK

The Well Bar Grill and Rooftop in Waldo has announced that the restaurant will soon close temporarily to make way for ECP Real Estate Group’s Waldo74Broadway development project planned for the majority of the block at 74th and Broadway.

The existing restaurant and bar will be razed to make room for the six-story project, which will include apartment units, retail space, and a new location for The Well.

“While we are sad to have to pause business at The Well for a time, we are also excited about the opportunity this project will bring to the Waldo area,” said co-owner Chris Lewellen.

Customers are invited to celebrate the last night of The Well at “The End of the Well as We Know It” Party, set for Saturday, September 9, from 6 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Starting at 9 p.m., local band Big People will entertain with classic to modern rock covers, and The Well’s full grill and cocktail menus will be available.

Opened next to the former Waldo Streetcar Station site on August 17, 2009, The Well has had a successful run in Historic Waldo.

Locally owned and operated, the Lewellen family has always operated with a community mindset, buying local and supporting hundreds of charitable organizations such as Veterans Community Project, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, American Heart Association, and The Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Center. An annual Fish FUNdraiser was held to support local schools and Parishes.

The Well has won numerous awards, including Missouri’s #1 Rooftop Dining Destination (Only in Your State), Best Rooftop Bar (The Pitch), America’s Ultimate Rooftop Bars (Foursquare), Best Outdoor Dining (Feast Magazine), and many more.

From local favorites to national sensations, The Well has welcomed a variety of performers, including The Samples, Lindsay Ell (Named One of CMT’s Next Women of Country), Dolewite, and The Zeros.

The Well hosted some great events, including Hopfest Craft Beer Festival, The World-Famous Budweiser Clydesdales, Waldo Crawldo and Falldo Crawldo Pub Crawls, St. Patrick’s Day Irish Hooley, and their famous Mother’s Day Brunch.

Several celebrities and sports figures like Jim Harbaugh, Ralph Sampson, Bill Self, Jason Sudeikis, and Olivia Wilde have dined at The Well over the years.

The Well has two sister restaurants, Lew’s Grill & Bar in Waldo, and Charlie Hooper’s Bar & Grille in Brookside, that are open for business for our customers to enjoy.
